Hi, I’m Parth Kharche.

I’m a Mechanical Engineering undergraduate at COEP Technological University, Pune, focused on precision mechanism design, high-torque actuators, and complex mechanical systems. Alongside my core mechanical curriculum, I am pursuing a Minor in Supply Chain Management, which sharpens how I approach manufacturing, tolerance scaling, and the full design-to-validation lifecycle.

Mechanism Design & Precision Engineering

My engineering approach relies on first principles and end-to-end system ownership—designing, fabricating, testing, and iterating intimately with the hardware. Key highlights include:

  • Compact High-Torque Actuator: Designed a 70 mm, 105.88:1 hybrid actuator combining a planetary input stage with a 25:1 cycloidal output. I analytically sized all gear geometry using the hunting tooth principle to minimize localized wear. This research was presented at ICASET 2026, with a journal extension under review.
  • Heavy-Duty Swerve Drive: Developing a modular omnidirectional drive rated for a 25 kg payload at an FOS of 2. Responsible for structural layout, gear ratio selection, and bearing specifications for the integrated planetary steering and high-torque wheel drive.
  • Dynamic Mechanism Iteration: Designed and owned a pneumatic-actuated jumping mechanism, iterating from an initial 10 cm to a 21 cm jump height through successive spring preloading, structural isolation and pneumatic circuit changes to prevent impact load transmission.

Industry Experience

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Techligence Pvt. Ltd., I manage the full design-to-validation cycle for complex mechanical assemblies. My work emphasizes rigorous constraint modeling and iterative subsystem engineering:

  • Receptionist Robot Subsystems: Designing, manufacturing, testing, and iterating mechanical subsystems for a humanoid receptionist robot intended for customer-facing deployment. I own the complete design-to-validation cycle, including rigorous tolerance stack-up analysis, rapid prototyping, and functional testing.
  • Harmonic Drive Research: Analyzing flexspline radial deflection and bending stress to improve torque density and backdrivability in high-load joints.
  • Mixed Actuator Architectures: Designing a kinematic chain utilizing cycloidal actuators at proximal joints, harmonic drives at mid-joints, and custom spur gear systems distally to balance torque density and packaging constraints.
  • 7+ DOF Anthropomorphic Arm Development: Engineered the full mechanical design and joint sizing for a complex 7+ degree-of-freedom kinematic chain. Implemented a targeted mixed-actuator architecture—integrating cycloidal drives at high-load proximal joints, harmonic drives at mid-joints to maximize backdrivability, and custom spur gear servos distally. This specific distribution was analytically selected to optimize the system for high torque density and strict packaging constraints prior to manufacturing handover.

On the software and controls side, I am designing the mechatronics and propulsion subsystem for an autonomous surface vessel (ASV), integrating hull layout and gyroscopic stabilization. Concurrently, I am building custom kinematic models in MuJoCo, exploring joint torque constraints and stability criteria.

Hobbies & Personal Pursuits

When I step away from CAD environments and hardware validation, my time is spent engaging with ideas and systems on a more personal level:

  • Making Things: The drive to design, manufacture and build doesn't stop at the lab door; I spend a significant amount of time building physical projects purely for the joy of creation and hands-on tinkering.
  • Deep Philosophical Discussions: I love to have long, rigorous conversations that deconstruct complex ideas, and I enjoy exploring the deeper "why" behind how systems and societies function.
  • Reading & Writing: I consume a wide variety of literature to broaden my perspective and actively write to clarify my own thinking and look for answers from different perspectives.
  • Meditation: I have recently integrated meditation into my daily routine as a vital grounding mechanism—a way to calm my mind, reset my focus, and manage the intense cognitive load of complex engineering problems.
  • Language Learning: Actively studying spoken Japanese and preparing for the JLPT N3 examination.
